The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced a $50 million donation to help fight the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
The organization, created by the billionaire founder of the Microsoft company, said the funds would be transferred immediately to organizations on the ground, to «intensify emergency efforts.»
For their part, dozens of dual-nationality Protestants, American and Liberian, rallied in front of Congress in Washington to ask the US government to do more to prevent the spread of the disease.
At least 1,000 people have died from Ebola in Liberia, and more than 2,100 in total in the four affected countries, which include Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.
